Laurie Carlson Steger Grew up in central Massachusetts, with parents who were part of the crafts revolution of the 1950’s –1960’s, making high-fire glass enamel on copper jewelry. She began weaving as a child and studied weaving at The Worcester Craft Center and the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, earning her BFA and MFA in Textile Design/Artisanry Fibers. She weaves on a Thread Controller 2 Jacquard loom, four-harness, and eight-harness floor looms. She continues to explore various textile methods that blend weaving, stitching, and impressionistic color fields in her textile constructions. She is active with the Weaver’s Guild of Boston.
